One life, One shot, Give it all you got!
Initial idea of CV video
Since I was searching for an internship in the creative music industry, I immediately came up with the idea to write my own curriculum vitae song. This would include the lyrics which mainly exists out of my CV and cover letter and a guitar rhythm. In this song the relevant information would be given according to the company. I would have written something about myself, work & intern experiences, qualities and why to choose for me. I believe this would be distinguishing and appealing for the company especially focussed on the music industry.
Realized idea of CV video
Over the last two months I had a busy schedule, therefore I was not able to create my own song. As a worthy substitute I have re-written an already existing song of the company where I would like to do my placement. Additionally, I will finish the CV song which is stated in the action plan later in this report.
The song I have chosen is called ‘The Ghost Inside – Dear Youth’. As mentioned above, this is a song of the company where I would like to do my placement. I searched for the lyrics and adapted it with the content of my CV and cover letter which would create curiosity to check my CV further. Currently, I have put work experiences, skills, education, competencies and why me in my video.
In the end I decided to not use or adapt my creative CV video, since I used an intermediary to help me find the right internship and that only required me to send my Creative resume and a motivation letter. They did not like a creative video like that, and besides one hour after the intermediary had sent my resume I already received an answer that they really wanted me.
Persuasion tools
Persuasion is a form of social influence. It is the process of guiding oneself or another toward the adoption of an idea, attitude, or action by rational and symbolic means.
Reciprocation
Clearly in the 3rd chorus I have stated why they have to choose me above other candidates. I am acknowledging the fact that there is a problem nowadays and I could help/support in finding a creative solution.
Commitment and consistency
Shown in the video is that I finished an English language course and that I participated at a conference where solving problems was vital. In the video is also stated that I am volunteering at an event organization and additionally my interests and hobbies. The mentioned above facts are all examples of commitment and consistency. It shows that I am dedicated and willing to finish everything I started.
Social proof
Social proof is reflected, because I am volunteering and moved to another country in order to study another language. On the other hand, my interests and hobbies are ‘common’. Nowadays, most people like to travel, visit live music events, watching series and play sports.
Liking
This persuasion tool is actually all over the current video. I believe one could see that in my characteristics, but also in my interests and volunteering activities. Moreover, this is also reflected in the quote ‘Give it all you got!’ I have stated there.
Authority
Personally, I believe that I am stating characteristics a leader should have, namely; open-minded, problem solver, creative, reliable and motivator. Moreover, authority could also be expressed with experiences. I am working in a market research company, volunteering in a project group and participating in a conference. Therefore, I believe that this could influence the decision process of the viewer
Scarcity
Throughout the video I have stated my skills, competencies, experiences and why they have to choose for me. Scarcity which basically means that the viewer should have a now or never feeling which I create by mentioning the aspects above.
